Elizabeth Bathory lahir di Hungaria thn 1560, kurang lebih 100 tahun setelah
Vlad "The Impaler" Dracul meninggal.(bagi teman-teman yang belum tahu siapa itu

Kakek buyut Elizabeth Bathory adalah Prince Stephen Bathory yang merupakan salah
satu Ksatria yang memimpin pasukan Vlad Darcul ketika dia merebut kembali
kekuasaan di Walachia seabad sebelumnya.
Orangtua Elizabeth , Georges dan Anna adalah bangsawan kaya raya dan merupakan
salah satu keluarga ningrat paling kaya di Hungaria saat itu.
Keluarga besarnya juga terdiri dari orang2 terpandang. Salah satu sepupunya
adalah perdana menteri di Hungaria, seorang lagi adalah Kardinal. Bahkan
pamannya ,Stepehen kemudian menjadi Raja Polandia.
Namun keluarga Bathory memiliki "sisi" lainnya yg lebih "gelap" selain segala
kekayaan dan popularitasnya.
Disebutkan bahwa salah satu pamannya yang lain adalah seorang Satanis dan
penganut Paganisme sementara seorang sepupunya yg lain memiliki kelainan jiwa
dan gemar melakukan kejahatan sexual.
Thn 1575, di usia 15 tahun Elizabeth menikah dengan Count Ferencz Nadasdy yang
10 thn lebih tua darinya.
Karena suaminya berasal dari ningrat yg lebih rendah, maka Count Ferencz Nadasdy
menggunakan nama Bathory dibelakangnya. Dengan demikian Elizabeth bisa tetap
menggunakan nama keluarganya yaitu Bahory dan tidak menjadi Nadasdy.
Kedua pasangan tsb kemudian tinggal di Kastil Csejthe, yg merupakan sebuah
kastil di atas pegunungan dengan desa Csejhte dilembah dibawahnya.
Suaminya jarang mendampingi Elizabeth karena Count Ferencz lebih sering berada
di medan pertempuran melawan Turki Usmani ( Ottoman ). Ferencz kemudian menjadi
terkenal karena keberaniannya di medan pertempuran, bahkan dianggap sebagai
pahlawan di Hungaria dengan julukan "Black Hero of Hungary".
Elizabeth yg masih muda tentu senantiasa merasa kesepian karena selalu ditinggal
sang suami.
Disebutkan dia memiliki kebiasaan mengagumi kecantikannya dan kemudian memiliki
banyak kekasih gelap yg melayaninya selama sang suami tidak berada di tempat.
Elizabeth bahkan pernah melarikan diri bersama kekasih gelapnya namun kemudian
kembali lagi dan suaminya memaafkannya.
Tapi hal tsb tidak mengurangi ketagihan Elizabeth akan kepuasan seksual.
Disebutkan juga Elizabeth menjadi seorang biseksual dengan melakukan hubungan
lesbian dengan bibinya ,Countess Klara Bathory
Elizabeth kemudian mulai terpengaruh dengan satanisme yg diajarkan oleh salah
seorang pelayan terdekatnya yg bernama Dorothea Szentes yg biasa disebut Dorka.
Karena pengaruh Dorka, Bathory mulai menyenangi kepuasan seksual lewat
penyiksaan yg dilakukannya terhadap pelayan2 lainnya yg masih muda.
Selain Dorka, Elizabeth dibantu beberapa pelayan terdekatnya yaitu : suster
Iloona Joo, pelayan pria Johaness Ujvari dan seorang pelayan wanita bernama Anna
Darvula, yg merangkap sebagai kekasih Elizabeth.
Bersama para kru S&M-nya, Elizabeth merubah kastil Csejthe menjadi pusat teror

Tapi Elizabeth adalah pemuja kesempurnaan dan kecantikan dan dia akan melakukan
apa saja demi mempertahankan kecantikannya.
Suatu saat dengan tidak sengaja seorang pelayaan wanita yg sedang menyisir
rambutnya secara tidak sengaja menarik rambut Elizabeth terlalu keras. Elizabeth
yg marah kemudian menampar gadis malang tsb.
Darah memancar dari hidung gadis tsb dan mengenai telapak tangan Elizabeth.
Saat itu Elizabeth disebutkan "menduga dan percaya" bahwa darah gadis muda tsb
memancarkan cahaya kemudaan mereka.
Serta merta dia memerintahkan 2 pelayannya , Johannes Ujvari dan Dorka
menelanjangi gadis tsb, menarik tangganya keatas bak mandi dan memotong urat
nadinya.
Ketika si gadis meninggal kehabisan darah, Elizabeth segera mesuk kedalam bak
mandi dan berendam dalam kubangan darah.
Dia menemukan apa yg diyakininya sebagai "Rahasia Awet Muda".
Ketika semua pelayan mudanya sudah mati, Elizabeth mulai merekrut gadis muda di
desa sekitarnya untuk menjadi pelayan di Kastilnya.
Nasib mereka semuanya sama , diikat diatas bak mandi kemudian urat nadi mereka
dipotong hingga darah mereka menetes habis kedalam bak mandi tsb.
Elizabeth seringkali berendam didalam kolam darah sambil menyaksikan gadis yg
jadi korbannya sekarat meneteskan darah hingga tewas.
Sesekali Elizabeth bahkan meminum darah para gadis tsb untuk mendapatkan "INNER
BEAUTY".
Lama kelamaan Elizabeth merasa bahwa darah para gadis desa tsb masih kurang
baginya. Demi mendapat darah yg lebih "berkualitas", Elizabeth kemudian
mengincar darah para gadis bangsawan rendahan.
Dia kemudian melakukan banyak penculikan thd gadis2 bangsawan utk dijadikan
korbannya.
Namun hal tsb justru menjadi bumerang baginya karena hilangnya gadis2 bangsawan
dengan cepat mendapatkan perhatian di kalangan bangsawan, orang2 berpengaruh
hingga Raja sendiri.
Tanggal 30 Desember 1610, sepasukan tentara dibawah pimpinan sepupu Elizabeth
sendiri, menyerbu Kastil Csejthe di malam hari.
Mereka semua terkejut melihat pemandangan yg mereka temukan di dalam kastil tsb.
Mayat seorang gadis yg pucat kehabisan darah tergeletak diatas meja makan,
seorang gadis lagi yg masih hidup namun sekarat ditemuka terikat di tiang dengan
kedua urat nadinya disayat hingga meneteskan darah.
Dibagian penjara ditemukan belasan gadis yg sedang ditahan menunggu giliran
dibunuh.
Kemudian di ruang basement ditemukan lebih dari 50 mayat yg sebagian besar sudah
mulai membusuk.
Selama pengadilan atas Elizabeth Bathory di tahun 1611 sekurangnya 650 daftar
nama korban2nya didapat berdasarkan laporan dari berbagai pihak. Mulai dari
keluarga2 petani hingga keluarga2 bangsawan.
Elizabeth sendiri tidak pernah didatangkan di pengadilan untuk diadili secara
langsung. Hanya ke 4 pelayannya yg diadili dan kemudian dihukum mati.
Namun Elizabeth mendapatkan hukumannya juga. Raja Hungaria memerintahkan
Elizabeth dikurung dalam kamarnya di Kastil Csejthe selama sisa hidupnya.
Para pekerja kemudian dikerahkan untuk menutup semua pintu dan jendela ruang
kamar Elizabeth dengan tembok dengan hanya menyisakan lubang kecil yg digunakan
untuk memasukan makanan dan minuman sehari2.
Tahun 1614, atau 4 tahun setelah Elizabeth di-isolasi dengan tembok di kamaranya
sendiri, seorang penjaga melihat makanan yg disajikan untuk Elizabeth tidak
disentuh selama seharian.
Penjaga itu kemudian mengintip kedalam dan melihat sang Countess tertelungkup
dengan wajah di lantai.
Elizabeth Bathory " The Blood Countess " meninggal di usia 54 tahun.Bahkan Vlad
Dracul tidak pernah berkubang dalam darah atau meminum darah.
Oleh sebab itu julukan "Vampir" sebenarnya lebih cocok ditujukan kepada

Saat menjelang wafat, Nabi Nuh a.s memanggil anak-anaknya untuk menghadap beliau. Maka Sam a.s segera datang menemuinya, namun kedua saudaranya tidak muncul yaitu Ham dan Yafits. Akibat dari ketidakpatuhan Ham dan Yafits, Allah kemudian menurunkan ganjaran kepada mereka. Yafits yang tidak datang karena lebih memilih berdua dengan istrinya (berhubungan suami istri) kemudian melahirkan anak bernama Sannaf. Kelak kemudian Sannaf menurunkan anak yang ganjil. Ketika dilahirkan, keluar sekaligus anak-anak dalam wujud kurang sempurna. Selain itu ukuran besar dan bobot masing-masing juga berbeda, ada yang fisiknya besar sedangkan lainnya kecil. Untuk selanjutnya yang besar kemudian terus tumbuh hingga melebihi ukuran normal (raksasa), sebaliknya yang bertubuh kecil terus kecil seperti liliput. Mereka kemudian dikenal sebagai Ya’juj dan Ma’juj.

Karena interaksi sosial yang tidak kondusif akibat masalah yang dibawa oleh Ya’juj dan Ma’juj ini maka mereka kemudian cenderung mengisolasi diri di suatu celah gunung di tengah-tengah komunitas induk bangsa-bangsa keturunan Yafits lainnya, yang antara lain meliputi bangsa: Armenia, Rusia/Slavia, Romawi dan Turk di wilayah-wilayah luas seputar Laut Hitam. Namun bilamana mereka membutuhkan makan dan minum, akan keluar secara serentak bersama-sama ke daerah-daerah sekitarnya yang masih belum tersentuh oleh mereka sebelumnya. Karena kondisi fisiknya, mereka mampu menempuh perjalanan jauh dalam waktu relatif lebih pendek dibandingkan oleh manusia normal. Bagi golongan raksasa karena mereka mampu melangkah dengan jangkauan lebar sedangkan golongan liliput adalah karena sedemikian ringan bobotnya terhadap gravitasi bumi sehingga bila berjalan sangat cepat seperti meluncur bersama angin. 
Pada puncak keresahan masyarakat pada masa itu, Allah SWT kemudian mengutus salah satu hambaNya yang berkulit kehitaman (tetapi bukan termasuk ras negro) dengan dua benjolan kecil (tidak bertulang tanduk) di kedua sisi keningnya yang sebenarnya lebih sering tak tampak karena tertutupi oleh surbannya yaitu Nabi Dzul Qarnain a.s untuk menghadang laju Ya’juj dan Ma’juj yang telah menimbulkan kerusakan alam yang akan terus bertambah luas. 
"Berilah Aku potongan-potongan besi," hingga apabila besi itu telah sama rata dengan kedua puncak gunung itu, berkatalah dzulqarnain,"Tiuplah (api itu)," Hingga apabila besi itu sudah menjadi (merah seperti) api, diapun berkata,"Berilah aku tembaga (yang mendidih) agar kutuangkan ke atas besi panas itu." -Al Kahfi: 96-
Sesuai petunjuk Allah, Nabi Dzul Qarnain a.s kemudian mengajak masyarakat di sekitar lokasi tempat tinggal Ya’juj dan Ma’juj untuk bersama-sama membuat dinding tembaga dan besi yang akan menutup satu-satunya lubang keluar masuk mereka. Setelah selesai, masyarakat yang sebelumnya tinggal di dekat dinding diajak untuk meninggalkan lokasi yang sudah kering tanpa air dan tumbuhan tersebut menuju ke tempat lain yang lebih layak untuk di huni.
"Maka mereka tidak bisa mendakinya dan mereka tidak bisa (pula) melobanginya." -Al Kahfi: 97- 
Ya’juj dan Ma’juj yang telah terkurung terus berupaya membuka dinding logam tersebut dengan segala cara, bahkan dengan menjilatinya karena mereka tahu bahwa benda apapun yang mereka sentuh dengan mulutnya akan berhenti tumbuh/bertambah, kering atau tergerus. Cara ini mampu membuat bagian-bagian dinding yang mereka sentuh menjadi tipis. Namun setiap kali akan berlubang, Allah mengembalikan lagi kondisinya seperti semula. Untuk bertahan hidup selama terkurung di balik dinding, Allah menumbuhkan sejenis lumut, sebagai satu-satunya tumbuhan yang dapat terus tumbuh dan justru makin bertambah banyak setiap kali dimakan oleh masyarakat Ya’juj dan Ma’juj. 
"Dzulqarnain berkata,"Ini (dinding) adalah rahmat dari Tuhanku, maka apabila sudah datang janji Tuhanku. Dia akan menjadikannya hancur luluh, dan janji Tuhanku itu adalah benar." -Al Kahfi: 98-

Allah SWT juga mewahyukan kepada Nabi Dzul Qarnain a.s bahwa dinding itu akan terjaga dan baru akan terbuka bila saatnya tiba yaitu kelak menjelang datangnya Hari Kiamat. Kemudian Allah menjadikan gaib (tidak terlihat) lokasi dinding tersebut.
"Hingga apabila dibukakan (tembok) Ya'juj dan Ma'juj, dan mereka turun dengan cepat dari seluruh tempat yang tinggi." -Al Anbiyaa: 96- 
Mereka berusaha untuk keluar dengan berbagai cara, hingga sampai saat matahari akan terbenam mereka telah dapat membuat sebuah lobang kecil untuk keluar. Lalu pemimpinnya berkata,'Besok kita lanjutkan kembali pekerjaan kita dan besok kita pasti bisa keluar dari sini." Namun keesokkan harinya lubang kecil itu sudah tertutup kembali seperti sedia kala atas kehendak Allah. Mereka pun bingung tetapi mereka bekerja kembali untuk membuat lubang untuk keluar. Demikian kejadian tersebuat terjadi berulang-ulang. Hingga kelak menjelang Kiamat, di akhir sore setelah membuat lubang kecil pemimpin mereka berkata,“InsyaAllah, Besok kita lanjutkan kembali pekerjaan kita dan besok kita pasti bisa keluar dari sini.” Maka keesokan paginya lubang kecil itu masih tetap ada, kemudian terbukalah dinding tersebut sekaligus kegaibannya dari penglihatan masyarakat luar sebelumnya. Dan Kaum Ya’juj dan Ma’juj yang selama ribuan tahun terkurung telah berkembang pesat jumlahnya akan turun bagaikan air bah memuaskan nafsu makan dan minumnya di segala tempat yang dapat mereka jangkau di bumi. 
Pada saat Ya'juj dan Ma'juj menyerang pada saat mendekati kiamat nanti dan saat itu masyarakat muslim termasuk Nabi Isa a.s yang telah terpojok di sebuah gunung (tur). Nabi Isa dan Umat muslim lalu bersama-sama berdoa kepada Allah agar terhindar dari masalah akibat perbuatan Ya’juj dan Ma’juj. Kemudian Allah SWT memerintahkan ulat-ulat yang tiba-tiba menembus keluar dari tengkuk Ya’juj dan Ma’juj yang langsung mengakibatkan kematian mereka secara serentak. WaAllahu 'Alam.

Mask Carver Dedicates Exhibition To Daughter, 3 Grandkids Who Died In Tsunami

TOKYO —

An amateur carver of the ornate masks used in traditional noh theater took visitors on a tour of his works Thursday, in an exhibition mounted in memory of family who died in Japan’s tsunami.

Kenshi Kimura’s work, mostly depicting the demons common in the complex and subtle world of noh, is dedicated to his daughter and three grandchildren, killed almost a year ago as they tried to flee the waves.

Kimura, who taught himself the art of mask carving over two decades ago, said he had decided to display his works in Tokyo because his daughter and her family had been intending to move to the capital when tragedy struck.

“I came to Tokyo not because I wanted to exhibit my works,” Kimura, 70, told AFP. “I’m here to console the soul of my daughter by coming to the city she wanted to come to.”

The masks, crafted from cypress wood, are worn by players in highly codified noh performances, whose carefully controlled gestures are intended to express the emotions that their masked faces cannot show.

The art form, which flourished in the courtly world of 14th century Japan, draws on classical Japanese literature such as “The Tale of Genji” for its storylines, which often revolve around the lives of spirits.

Kimura, who has been commissioned to create a mask for a professional noh actor, said he likes to produce variations on a horned and fanged female with a wide-open mouth that is identified with jealousy and grudges.

The masks, on show at a gallery in Tokyo’s upmarket Ginza area, will be returned to Kimura’s tsunami-hit hometown of Higashimatsushima ahead of the March 11 anniversary of the disaster that killed 19,000 people.

Gunman Kill NATO Forces In Southern Afganishtan

(CNN) -- A gunman in an Afghan National Army uniform and another man shot dead two NATO soldiers at a combat outpost in southern Afghanistan Thursday, authorities said.

The dead soldiers were Americans, according to Niaz Mohammad Sarhadi, the district chief in Kandahar province, where the shooting happened. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, however, did not immediately specify the service members' nationalities.

Thursday's shooting was the third at a base or government building since news emerged that U.S. troops mistakenly burned Qurans and other religious materials early last week -- an incident that has sparked outrage, protests, and violence across Afghanistan.

Rep. Buck McKeon, who chairs the Armed Services Committee, said 39 of the attacks were by members of the Afghan National Security Force and three were by contractors.

Most attackers were acting on their own, rather than being puppets of insurgent groups, defense officials testified.

France suspended its operations in Afghanistan after four French soldiers were killed by Afghan counterparts in eastern Kapisa province in January. That shooting came after another Afghan soldier killed two French soldiers in December.

"The French army is not in Afghanistan to be shot at by Afghan soldiers," French President Nicolas Sarkozy said after the shootings.

Coalition forces responding to Thursday's incident killed the two gunmen, said Capt. Justin Brockhoff, an ISAF spokesman.

Sarhadi said one gunman was an Afghan National Army soldier and the other, dressed in civilian clothes, was a teacher who formerly ran literacy courses for Afghan army soldiers.

Afghan civilians are sometimes used to teach Afghan soldiers English to improve their ability to work alongside ISAF.

It appeared that the teacher had been planning the attack for at least a year, Sarhadi said, because officials found pictures and other documents related to the Taliban among his possessions.

U.S. officials have called the Quran burning an error by troops who were inadvertently given the Qurans and other religious materials to dispose of because they were thought to contain extremist inscriptions. U.S. President Barack Obama has apologized for the burning.

Still, gunmen have targeted U.S. troops in the days following the burning. A man wearing an Afghan National Army uniform killed two American soldiers at a base in eastern Nangarhar province early last week.

Over the weekend, two senior U.S. officers were gunned down inside the heavily secure Afghan Interior Ministry when a junior intelligence officer turned his gun on them. The gunman, who had been fired by the ministry but recently rejoined as a driver, is still on the loose.

The incident prompted the United States to pull military advisers and embedded civilians from Afghan ministries, and France announced it was temporarily withdrawing all of its public officials in Afghan institutions to ensure their safety.

The unrest following the Quran burning has left at least 41 people dead, including the two deaths Thursday, and hundreds more wounded.

At least nine people were killed and 12 wounded in an explosion Monday near the front gate of the ISAF base at Jalalabad airport in eastern Afghanistan. There were no NATO casualties in the bombing.

The Taliban insurgency said the attack was in retaliation for the Quran burning.

In northern Kunduz province over the weekend, protesters attacked a police chief's office and a U.S. military base, Afghan and U.S. authorities said. Some threw hand grenades at the base, known as Combat Outpost Fortitude, and the resulting blasts wounded seven U.S. personnel believed to be Special Forces members, they said.

Demonstrations outside the United Nations office in Kunduz on Saturday left four civilians dead and prompted the U.N. mission there to say Monday that it is temporarily relocating its international staff.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday the unrest and targeting of Americans has gotten "out of hand" and needs to stop.

The Obama administration feels the Afghans have not done enough to stem the violence, according to a senior U.S. official who has access to the latest intelligence and is involved in administration discussions, but declined to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the situation.

"We are not going to settle for what has happened to our troops in recent days," the official said.

The U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, Ryan Crocker, maintained Sunday that the Afghan security forces have given their lives to control the demonstrations and protect U.S. installations.

Crocker said the Afghans "are very much in this fight trying to protect us."

After the Interior Ministry shooting, Lt. Col. Jimmie Cummings, an ISAF spokesman, said the United States would not let the incident divide the coalition.

FIVE WAYS WINDOWS 8 IS BETTER THAN iOS AND ANDROID

(WIRED) -- When Microsoft revealed the "consumer preview" of Windows 8 on Wednesday, it didn't just give the world a glimpse at a new OS — it also showed us that it can be a leader in touch-based user interface design. Yes, Microsoft's new tablet UI isn't merely utilitarian. It's actually innovative, and even cool.

And in some ways it trumps the best that Apple and Google currently have to offer in iOS and Android, respectively.

Here are five of our favorite new Windows 8 features.

Picture password

We've known about Microsoft's picture password feature in Windows 8 since its developer preview was unleashed in mid-September. But now that we've had a chance to give it a spin, we can definitely say it's a fun, convenient alternative to other system unlocking methods. In a nutshell, you choose a photo for your lock screen, and then define three touch gestures to draw on top of the photo in order to unlock your device.

When Microsoft first detailed picture password, some were skeptical: Won't evil hackers be able to figure out your gesture-based password based on the smudges you leave on the display? In ablog post, Microsoft said no: "Because the order of gestures, their direction and location all matter, it makes the prospect of guessing the correct gesture set based on smudging very difficult even in the completely clean screen case, let alone on a screen that sees regular touch use."

In that same blog post, Microsoft provided a detailed mathematical explanation of why a picture-based password is every bit as secure, if not more so, than a PIN-based one. And independent security experts agree that the likelihood of someone being able to decipher the intent of smudges on your device is slim to none.

Of course, character-based passwords and number-based PINs are an old standby. Apple uses four-number passcodes in iOS. They're quite secure, but not particularly innovative. Google is more creative with its unlock security, offering a facial recognition-based unlocking feature in its Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. This, however, has proven not to be so secure. In fact, it can be defeated if you hold up a picture of the Android device owner at the right distance from the display.

Easy gesture-based app switching

In the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, Google has added a "Recent Apps" feature that pulls up a listing of most frequently used apps when you click the system bar icon. But in Windows 8, switching between open apps is much more intuitive and easy: A swipe from the left edge of the device will immediately pull up the last app you used (assuming it's still open in a multitasking state). It's a natural gesture, and one you'll rarely use by accident.

And best of all, it's fast — like channel surfing for the tablet era.

And how's this for clever: If you know you have a large number of apps open, you can simply swipe back and forth on the edge of the screen, and up pops a vertical array of preview windows revealing all your running programs (see screenshot above). From here, you can tap on a preview to jump to a specific app. Again: another solution that's easy, quick and elegant.

In the iPad version of iOS 5, you're given two strategies to jump between apps. Most people will double-tap the home button to reveal a lineup of icons of all open apps. From there, a simple icon tap will jump to the new app. That's the popular method. But iOS 5 for iPad also lets you swipe from open app to open app, much like the method in Windows 8.

But there is one hitch in the iOS approach: You have to use a full four fingers to execute the swipe. Compared to the Windows 8 gesture, it's just not that natural.

Fat fingers aren't a problem

One problem many mobile users suffer is that onscreen keyboards aren't designed for a variety of hand and finger sizes. This is typically less of a problem on tablets, which usually have enough screen real estate to offer accommodating keyboards. Nonetheless, if you plan on using your tablet two-handed, typing with your thumbs, typing on a tablet isn't so easy.

Windows 8 offers a solution: It provides a split-screen keyboard so you can type with your thumbs. But wait, you say — Apple already does this in iOS 5. This is true, but Windows 8 goes one step further: You can adjust key size in the Windows 8 split-screen keyboard. You have three sizes to choose from, so if you've got the petite hands of a five-year-old, you can type on the small setting, and if you've got manly man hands, you can increase key size to large.

It's not an insanely revolutionary feature, but little UI nuances like this make Windows 8 so appealing in total.

Chromeless, fullscreen app experiences

Windows 8 also innovates with a unique, tablet-optimized approach that eliminates distracting "chrome" — in other words, all those busy interface elements that can junk up a desktop or app interface. In fact, it's an OS-wide theme of Windows 8′s Metro UI. There are no menu bars, task bars, or navigational buttons permanently pinned to the display.

In many iOS apps, you'll find navigational buttons that persist across the app's entire user experience. And even for apps that don't do this, you'll often still see that thin bar at the top of the screen that shows data connection strength, the time, and battery level. These are the very same elements that are locked to the iOS home screen.

The case is similar (and arguably worse) in Ice Cream Sandwich. You've got your three virtual navigation buttons at the bottom of the display that are persistent across the UI. You also often have a bar across the top of the screen (just like in iOS) that displays battery status, time, and icons that link to other information.

Windows 8 does away with all of this. To see the time, battery strength and data connectivity, you swipe open your Charms menu. Once you're done looking at these simple reports, you touch anywhere on the screen, and the Charms menu disappears.

When I was younger, I was obsessed with knowing the time, so the new Windows 8 approach would have driven me nuts. But now it's liberating to keep the clock out of view — until I actually need it. Just check the time when you need to, and enjoy a much less busy user interface for 99 percent of your time on the tablet. Metro apps can luxuriously take up your tablet's full screen, and in cases where there's photo or video involved, that's fantastic.

Home screen style and utility

Every major mobile OS provides a certain degree of personalization in what you see in your home screen. In iOS, you can rearrange your home screen app icons so you can put your favorite ones front and center. In Android, you can organize the placement of app icons, and also add widgets that display real-time information, making the home screen both personalized and a source of useful information.

However, Android widgets tend to have their own developer-specific themes and designs, so when they intermingle on your home screen, the resulting arrangement may look busy and inconsistent like a chaotic patchwork quilt.

In Windows 8, however, you'll find a happy medium between the tidy organization that iOS provides, and the freedom and utility of the Android home screen. In Windows 8, app icons are live tiles, either square or rectangular in shape, but always consistent in their basic look and feel.

But live tiles also update with new information in real time, just like an Android widget. For example, the mail app provides a constant refresh of your latest message headers. You can organize live tiles in whatever order suits you best. In the screenshot above, we put the calendar, mail and weather apps on the far left so we could glean that information with a single downward glance.

Di ruang sidang pengadilan, seorang hakim duduk tercenung menyimak tuntutan jaksa PU terhadap seorang nenek yang dituduh mencuri singkong. Nenek itu berdalih bahwa hidupnya miskin, anak lelakinya sakit, dan cucunya kelaparan. Namun seorang laki yang merupakan manajer dari PT yang memiliki perkebunan singkong tersebut tetap pada tuntutannya, dg alasan agar menjadi cnth bagi warga lainnya.

Hakim menghela nafas. dan berkata, “Maafkan saya, bu”, katanya sambil memandang nenek itu.

”Saya tak dapat membuat pengecualian hukum, hukum tetap hukum, jadi anda harus dihukum. Saya mendenda anda Rp 1 juta dan jika anda tidak mampu bayar maka anda harus masuk penjara 2,5 tahun, seperti tuntutan jaksa PU”.

Nenek itu tertunduk lesu, hatinya remuk redam. Namun tiba-tiba hakim mencopot topi toganya, membuka dompetnya kemudian mengambil & memasukkan uang Rp 1 juta ke topi toganya serta berkata kepada hadirin yang berada di ruang sidang.

‘Saya atas nama pengadilan, juga menjatuhkan denda kepada tiap orang yang hadir di ruang sidang ini, sebesar Rp 50 ribu, karena menetap di kota ini, dan membiarkan seseorang kelaparan sampai harus mencuri untuk memberi makan cucunya.
